We planted squash, spinach, onions, bell peppers, marigolds, and nasturtiums. I am also growing a lemon tree in the kitchen.
What do you have growing in your gardens this summer?

Good work in your blog, regards from Chile
A ver...
We would like to be planting right now...very much. We do have some lemon balm (mosquitos hate it), sage, parsley, thyme, rosemary, basil (perennial), and a few stragler tomatoes from last year that came up. Other than that, we are just hope to be able to move and plant something soon!! Ian, you look like a pro gardener!!
oh yeah-- I also have Greek Oregano, Tarrogon, and Dill. Yes, they are all herbs, but they are fun to grow and hopefully we will have some veggies soon. We will grow really big pumpkins for you Ian and Afton-- and anyone else! (I am a big talker, but we can always try!!)
Can I keep him? Ian that is.
Lyndon and I attempted to grow some peas, onions, basil, rosemarry, and tomatoes. I managed to KILL everything, but the tomatoes and my little rosemarry is still struggling. I never knew how bad with plants I was, I feel so horrible. The peas were actually doing fine until I knocked them off of their nice spot on the Air conditioner.
So after the weather started getting hotter, I begged Lyndon to turn on the A.C. Once on, dirt from the pea spillage went EVERYWHERE! Lucky we have dirt brown shag carpet and I could care less about the upkeep of this place.
Hey Ian looks like a good helper. At least he is not going to get a farmer's tan. I have planted tomatoes, cucumbers, a zucchini, several crook neck squash and a pan squash. I also have chives, parsley, rosemary, thyme (two types) sorry no sage (so we can't sing the song)basil, chocolate mint that comes back no matter how much of it I pull out and some other herb I can't remember. In the flower department I planted some south african daises for obvious reasons, pansies, zinnias, gerbers, geraniums and oh, I forgot I planted two small blueberry bushes. I bet you are wondering how I do all this in my little condo. Actually the back patio is a bit crowded. IF things grow it will be really crowded but green. Give my regards to Ian and Wendy
I like your comment Missy.
We will try and start a garden once we hit Burley. It may be late in the season to get a lot started but we plan on blending in, disappearing, never being able to be found among the locals and their gardens.
Actually, we are excited to garden. Two summers ago we had an award winning (our own awards) garden in Spokanople. We will all have to start a gardening blog to share secrets.
One more, Ian is really cute.
I am impressed with the green thumbs! Don't worry, Missy, yours will turn green. I still kill plants all the time. You aren't a true gardener unless you do-- that is how we learn. I would like to plant one of those cute little Ians in my back yard. Are they hard to grow? Sam helped me dig in my garden plot today. I pulled some weeds and looked for worms with her. We are sad to leave our yard.
Hmmm..I have two geraniums on the balcony, Paul and Bonnie. They are sadly dying a slow death because I don't feel like watering them. Are any of you wondering what kind of mother I am?
I make a significantly bigger effort as a mother than I do as a gardener, but someday I will learn to multi-task, or multi-care.
I'm just glad J never got me that puppy I begged for so long ago!
Abby-- that just shows you are a wonderful mother. You are caring for a darling little "bud"!
I love the names of your flowers...!
ok, ok, ok, ok. We just nabbed some gardening tools from Housing and tore up 10 square feet of grass in front of our townhouse, surrounded it with rocks, and now we are going to plant more garden--actually IN THE GROUDND!
Most of the lawn was actually clover and dandelions, so we figure it doesn't matter much. Pumpkins will look so much nicer anyways, and anise, and onions, maybe some lettuce, hmmmm.
Cool-- it is addicting to tear out the grass and put in more plants, beware!
I'm not sure how I feel about the fact that my daughter is letting the plants named after her parents die....I hope there is no deepeer meaning in this. Jangs, I would love to have even a condo patio right now....I have a balconey that doesn't get a lot of sun. I never realized how much I would miss have a little bit of earth to play with--not that I gardened much in Houston--too hot, too many fire ants, and mosquitoes!
