It is with deep sorrow and great regret that we report the loss of our dear Spotlight. Richard says she went to Bunny pergatory, but the girls in the family have a soft spot for the fiesty bunny. In case you didn't know, we purchased a bunny harness and lead for Spotlight (yes they DO make those!) Unfortunately, the model was apparently an older, unsafe one, and the harness around the middle of the bunny slipped up and choked the poor creature to death. No one felt worse than I did, I can assure you, especially when I recall how Laura Lee kept saying, "Mommy their is something wrong with my bunny-- she is breathing fast." And I sympathetically responded, "Sweetheart, all bunnies breathe fast. She's okay." My poor neighbor was there at the bunny's demise, and she called for me to come out since I had gone inside to help Sammy for a second. I came out to a lifeless bunny, and a shocked little girl. Of course the words, "Oh honey, you killed her!" came flying out of my mouth without any sort of restraint. Laura Lee promptly burst into tears, and I started to profusely apologize, while my neighbor ran to get her husband and a shovel. Spotlight was buried in our back yard with little ceremony and two fake gerbera daisys.
We now have a new member of the family named Floppy. She is a cute little lop eared bunny and she is extremely calm. Laura Lee and Sammy put her in a basket and take her on walks, and she lets them pick her up and cuddle. I am very grateful for a calm bunny, since at this time we are all a little wired from our move and our quick loss of Spotlight! Rich thinks it was definitely for the better, but we all feel terrible that Spotlight met such a tragic end.
Thanks for all of your help this past weekend. We really appreciate such a great family-- especially since we are not the only ones to have moved in the past month. Thanks from the bottom of our hearts.

Alas! Poor Spotlight, I knew him well. Well, I knew him, and maybe that was enough.
What a tragic story. "All bunnies breathe really fast"? So sad. I suppose the lesson to learn is to never under-estimate the power of a child's observations of the natural world. My deepest sympathy to the family, and one final hurrah for Spotlight. Welcome, Floppy to the family blog.
We respectfully say good bye to Spotlight. Welcome to Floppy!. Cute Bunny. Looks like LL has already got a good relationship with her new rabbit
That second picture of LL is adorable. Those eyes are so big a beautiful. I'm sad thinking of leaving you so soon.
