Today after church, Sammy handed me picture she colored of baby Jesus-- all very nicely done with pastel colors, very nice for a 3 year old, if I do say so. Then, Laura Lee hands me her coloring she did in church. As you can see from the picture, it was quite different. I asked her to tell me about the picture- and she said, "They're aliens, Mom!" (Duh!!)
Child psychologists say you can tell about a child's thought processes through their artwork. What does this say about my child?? As you notice, she only uses red and blue, and a nice brown for the chairs (usually it is only the color red!) Also, note that the only aliens are GIRLS! She doesn't watch "alien" or science fiction shows... so I don't know why she came up with this! Please tell me what you would interpret from this picture. Am I doing something wrong with my child??

I've always considered girls to be aliens, so I don't see anything wrong. Keep up the good work.
Dad
I'm sorry. I can't think of anything to say because I am laughing. I think it is great. Maybe her lesson in primary was boring, and she is good at creating her own fun!
Please bless that her comic genius continues to flourish.
LL is probably the funniest little kid I know and I brag about it to everyone. I would have liked to see the reaction of her primary teacher to that drawing! Thanks for making me laugh on a Monday.
I agree that what this picture means is that your child is funny. It might also mean that she thinks that girls are out of place in church...? Or maybe she is simply recognizing that boys and girls are different, and she is looking for an outward expression of that difference.
When my son is at church he refuses to pee in the "big toilets" and asks instead if he can pee in the bushes outside.
Mike,
Don't all boys love to pee outside? We have had many discussion about public nudity and modesty in our house for that very reason.
You are all making me laugh today!
I'm with Jessica, I can't even think about what it might mean because I am giggling.
I sure wish we could've played with all these little cousins at Christmas!
Me too!!
I think it means that she is YOUR child!!! Whata nut, I love her. I also love that they were mooning you the other day when I called.
I usually find that any odd comments or habits I find Ian has somehow relate back to something Mike taught him. ("I need to wear a warm shirt so my nipples don't fall off") So maybe Rich is secretly telling her "girls are aliens" stories before bed time.
I will admit- my daughters pick up some of my quirks, unfortunately!! (However, Missy, I did not teach them to MOON me!!)
I think it just means you have one creative, funny, whimsical child. Enjoy! It makes me laugh out loud!
