While I am waiting for dinner, I'll up load a few more photos.
This is a well at Solomon's (one of them) stable cities. It is dug into the ground and goes down very, very far with a tunnel to the outside. Lots of hills like this are "tels" which are layers of civilization built on top of each other. They found stables on top of this one. The well was dug in to pull the water into the city to prevent the enemy taking the water supply during a siege.
All things in Israel are based around defending positions, protecting resources from the enemy both ancient and modern. It is a very enlightening experience to be here.
The horse troughs were of stone. All troughs or mangers were of stone. The original greek word calling Jesus a carpenter is the same word for stone mason and he was likely a stone mason since that is the most prevalent work here. Jesus was a stone mason. Wow.

That is really cool. I actually had an institute teacher that said Jesus was a stone mason-- it made a lot of sense, a lot more sense with all the analogies with stone he uses. I am really excited to hear more from you guys. Thanks for the pics.
This is Meggido. The head of the Jezreel Valley, Armageddon stuff and yes, Joseph was probably a stone mason. There weren't many trees. STone is everywhere and everything is made from stone
Wow - stone mason. That is cool. I want to see Israel some day. It would be fun to read the bible after seeing it all first hand.
Fun to read the Bible???? When was the last time you tried?
Well, if Jesus was a stone mason, then they are going to have to change a lot of paintings in the halls at church!
Ha ha!
that is so interesting! YOu should have a special extended family, family home evening and invite all of us to share your experiences...I am being totally serious!
That actually would be really fun-- we could make a slide show of the trip and I will put it together for you if you like and burn it on a DVD.
