Law and Order

It has happened, I am official. I had my first jury trial yesterday and it was some pretty serious stuff. The trial was a battery on a law enforcement officer. The defendant was a drunk airline pilot who committed the battery by hitting the cop with a SNOWBALL in the face. You can laugh, I did. Now to top it off, on this my first jury trial the defense attorney was the former Attorney General for the State of Idaho David Leroy. Yes, even funnier.

How did the trial turn out you ask? After a 8 hour trial, no kidding an eight hour trial, over a snowball the jury took 15 minutes to return a verdict. NOT GUILTY! I have to admit I didn't have high expectations, especially because I was handed the file the day before trial, my opponent was the former attorney general and we were arguing over a snowball. I personally think the jury was so bored and mad they had to sit for over 8 hours and listened to us argue about the culture of snowball fights that they just wanted to get home. I can't blame them really.

It was a good chance for me to make my rookie mistakes and take my rookie beating. I can honestly sit back and laugh, and invite you all to laugh at me too.

I wouldn't laugh at you. The only time I have been in a court room was when I had to take some aquaintances to drug court. That was an eye opener. I bet you did just great.

Yeah, I think that it's a great story, and God bless America. Wasn't the Boston Massacre over a snowball fight too?

I'm so sorry you didn't have more of a "Rainmaker" experience...really? A snowball? I love when crime involves things like snowballs and not guns, etc. It's encouraging, really.

Did you have charts and graphs like in the movies?

"If the jury wouldn't mind paying attention to diagram B...The snowball was thrown at a downward 90 degree angle (yes, he does throw like a girl) and hit the plaintiff's face with a impact of that of a butterfly flying at full speed..."

I think it is great. You could write a book someday.

You gotta get some of the live action from Jared, it was a pretty cool banter between him and the others. I think it's cool.
