Its official! She has the ring!

Rich and Janae came by last night to show us the ring! So it is official and we can tell people now. Rich really did a nice job picking out a beautiful ring and diamond.  We are very excited for them.  So mark your calendars in July for the big date.
For those who don't know.  Janae is Janae Card.  Rich knew her in High School and they dated a few times then and reconnected after his mission.  Her parents are Arlen and Jennifer Card. Her father is a composer and did the music for the Joseph Smith movie and many other Church productions.  He is also an attorney. He and Mark met when we first moved down here and Arlen and Mark met while taking the Utah bar.  Arlen is Of Counsel at Fillmore Spencer. Our paths have been crossing since we first moved to Utah.  It that a sign that this was meant to be? I think its a good one.  And just a side note.  Both of our youngest met their true loves while we were living here just off Center.  Does that mean I can move now?

Ha! I was thinking the same thing-- Missy and Rich both met their loves down there in Happy Valley. Is Rich really old enough to get married-- he looks a little young...or am I just getting older?

Congrats to Richard and Janae. I think that in marriage they should be known as RiKi and Jae Jae. This looks and sounds a little more contemporary. Last names will be unnecessary. They can get married at the Twin Falls temple, and we will have a huge reception on the edge of the canyon with golden eagles circling overhead with streamers tied to their legs. Entertainment will include Mexican cliff divers in leopard-print speedos. RiKi can take his turn and demonstrate his mad swim skills while Jae Jae's family leads a fire eating contest on the banks of the Snake river. We can roast a giant sturgeon on a spit over an open bon fire of Russian olive wood, and the grandkids can shoot rock chucks with .22 pistols as the sun sets behind the Perrine Bridge.

...just a thought anyway...

Ha!! Now why didn't I think of that for MY reception?? Oh, yeah, the temple wasn't there yet and it was December-- bummer.

You should be a wedding planner MIke!

I love the ecstatic smile on Richard's face!

It means that Rich is getting married BEFORE me!!!! Why am I not surprised??? Well, congrats Rich!! I can see you have made a great choice!!!!

Congrats Rich and Janae!
I am a tiny bit scared about the reception though. Will the eagles dive at the rock chucks? Don't we get to eat eclairs? (every good wedding has eclairs) Are the leopard print speedos REALLY necessary?

Jared Stubbs said...

Congratulations Rich! Um, can Mike plan your reception? Seriously, it sounds like fun...

michaelstubbs said...

We could make some arrangements for leopard-print eclairs and just plain pink speedos if that will make everyone more comfortable. We could also train the eagles to leave the rock chucks alone while the children are shooting. How does that sound?

Congrats Rich! I am so happy for you. It seems crazy you are getting married! I remember holding you at Sun Valley when you were a baby. Do you hate it when people say that??
And, I am with Mike, you would get all kinds of attendance at a reception like that..which means...more gifts!

I'm voting for eclairs.

Congratulations you two. Those big smiles are a good way to start things off right.

I'll wear a pink speedo and eat lepard print eclairs!

Does Janae read our blog? Is she going to be scared off? But then who wouldn't like the sound of a Twin Falls wedding?

Julie said...

Ummm. Missy I hope you will at least wear a bikini top with that speedo, and oh! Oh! I know... a sheer leopard print overshirt.

Jared Stubbs said...

Missy, I agree with Julie, no speedo for you! Let Dad, Mike, Rich, and I wear the speedos. Oops, Rich shouldn't wear a speedo, maybe just a leopard print tux.

michaelstubbs said...

Uh hem...the Mexican cliff divers will be wearing the speedos. The family will be dressed in matching feather boas over top shimmering green tuxedos for the men and sequined evening gowns for the women. Yellow boas for the Stubbs, I think, and navy for the Cards.

Julie said...

Does Jaejae know what she is getting into?

Nae said...

Mike, you can definitely plan this reception, as long as I get the floofiest boa and Riki does a manly dance with fire (the speedo is optional, albeit preferred). Do you think you could arrange for some paratroopers? *sigh* So romantic!

On second thought...you can only plan the reception if you beat my mother in an arm wrestle.

Love,
Jae jae

I think I know exactly what I'm getting into. :D

Wowzer! That is the greatest news ever!!! Congratulations to both Riki & Jae Jae! We are supposed to be on a mission come July but if Mike's plan is used we may have to postpone. How often do you get to see eagles with streamers and leopard-speedo-clad cliff divers? I would come just to see my brother-in-law in a green sparkly tux. I mean, come on, I need to keep my priorities straight, right?

michaelstubbs said...

Jae Jae,

Can your mother run a chain saw for 8 hours a day? If so, I will take her on in the arm wrestling competition.

Let's trade paratroopers for BASE jumpers: we do have the Perrine Bridge right there, and whatever sort of dancing takes place after dark is entirely up to the newly-weds.
-Mike

Nae said...

Wow. I think I asked for that one.

Um...let's have you try my mom in a bake-off. Or a kitchen-tile-ripping-up-contest.

And the BASE jumpers sound great. Will they be in leopard print?

Rich said...

wait wait wait...i went to africa on my mission so I don't want any leaopard print speedos. Loin cloths are the new speedo, and I think we'll invite the zulu warriors I know to come and do a spear dance, other than that everything sounds great.
Jae Jae and I can finish the evening off by rocketing across the canyon in a jet car. Then we'll paracute down to our awating honeymoon boat.

Rich said...

i'll wear a bow tie with my loin cloth for modesty

michaelstubbs said...

I think that that should finish it. I should say, however, that I think that loin cloths on cliff jumpers are a bad idea. Have you heard of gravity? And what about all the poor spectators looking up? Speedos.

Jared Stubbs said...

Speedos.

Julie said...

Oh....brother.

Let's not scare Janae away so fast.

Nae said...

Nah, I posted a blog about it already. This is a set thing! :)

michaelstubbs said...

Let's talk cost. I am willing to give you guys a discount because I know you. However, since you are planning to get married during one of the three months out of the year in which I am actually employed, I might choose to waive that discount.

Rich said...

Well In any case the tip will make up the difference of the discount. If we get a discount you get a tip, if we get no discount you get no tip. I think that's sound logic don't you.

Nae said...

Can we pay you in livestock? Better still, would you take an IOU for our firstborn male child?

michaelstubbs said...

Children are an investment, not a payment. Giving me a child would be like asking me to pay your credit card bill each month for you or like kicking me in the mouth. You two have a lot to learn. Livestock is little better. How about land or nannyslavery?

Nae said...

Bummer. I had hoped you wouldn't notice. Land, eh? I have some mad Risk skills. I could hook you up with some colorful countries.

michaelstubbs said...

If it is Lord of the Rings Risk, you can count me in. I have only played it two or three times, but I have won every time. Middle Earth is mine. Give me Lord of the Rings Risk, and I make this thing happen for that price alone.

I have taken the liberty of starting a wedding planner blog for Mike - it is called:
