Back in the 5th grade in Mr. Krueger's art class in Denver, Colorado after a lesson on doing perspective and failing miserably at it, I decided I was no artist. I had a brother and sister who were really good at it and I just couldn't do it. And life went on. Then in October two sisters in my ward asked me to join their watercolor class. This invitation was not inspired by any show of talent on my part. No I am the Bishop's wife and an easy mark and they needed more bodies to show up for their class in order for the teacher to continue to teach. So being the big hearted idiot that I am I agreed. In the process I found a part of my right side brain and reawakened the fifth grader and have been developing my art from there. I really look forward to my class each week. Interestingly the two ladies who invited me don't come half the time, but I love my class now. I am brave enough now to post some of my work on the frig and to share with you now. We have been getting just plain drawing lessons of late and then will be going back to watercolors. So for better or worse I will now share. You can teach an old dog a few new things and change their perspective in the process.

I think those are awesome! This is a true story, when I first saw the cookie I thought is was real and sitting on a plate. My favorite is the chili peppers
They look great to me. I dropped my one and only art/drawing class during my final semester at ISU when we went through the whole fiasco of getting Ian's eyes fixed, and I am sorry I missed out. I would like to follow in your footsteps when I am 50, Mom.
I have always thought my siblings are artists and I'm not. Maybe I should try again. You are inspiring me.
Great job!
Those are great! I am really impressed! Seriously, you have found a hidden talent.
And they're even BETTER in real life! Rich and I love coming over and seeing your newest creation. You are such an inspiration! :)
Wow!! You are doing such a great job!!! I love the chili peppers one! It´s awesome!!!
That flower at the bottom is really cool. All are good. BTW-it was not a hidden talent mom-you've always had a nack for drawing-it's cool to see you use it so well.
I love it. That sounds like so much fun. I love the fish and the sand dollar and flower. There's talent everywhere in this family!
I love the pepper one too Chris. I really have been enjoying your art mom. I agree with mike, I hope I am still developing my talents when I am 50. You have always been a great example. Did any of you know that mom also took fencing lessons at one point?
I am so impressed! You are an inspiration to me to pick it up again some day...in three years...if I ever have time. Those are really good. Thanks so much for having the guts to learn something new and then to share it! Proud of you, Sis!
