To Chernistvi and back

This is one of the schools Dad taught at in Chernivtsi. The word below this picture if it stays there is how Chernivtsi looks in Cyrillic. Then we have a picture of Iegor as he passed the Utah Bar. Ha HA HA. Well Iegor thought it was funny. The we have the ladies of Chernivtsi cleaning away the ice and snow. And last is the leaving the train in Chernivtsi and a good reason why your bring only carry on luggage. You have to cross the snow and tracks to get on and off the train. I hope all this makes sense. I have a really hard time placing my photos and getting the writing where I want it. Oh well.

After 2 days in Chernivtsi we are back in Lviv. We took another 11 hour train ride back to Lviv. Iegor asked what we wanted to do today as he dropped us off at our apartment and I said all I had planned so far was to brush my teeth. The sun is shining and the snow is melting and it is incredible how beautiful the sun feels after walking on 3 to 4 inches of iced sidewalks and streets in Chernivtsi. The grey sky and mist came right to the ground there most of the day and it was hiding the beauty of the city. I would love to see their parks in summer or fall all in bloom and the trees out. There are so many beautiful parks. Yesterday in Chernivtsi the temperature got up to about 38 F and so things were melting and people were out in force with large metal rods and one guy even had an ax chopping away at the ice to get to the sidewalk. They let us take their picture. It was fun to watch them. They had a break in the weather and they were fight back the winter. Today as I sit in our apartment in Lviv again all you can hear is the dripping of melting snow all around. I love the blue sky.

Those ladies on the street look like they could be Spaniards-- but without the ice and snow.

Did they understand the humor of naming a bar "Utah" ha ha!

Why did they name the bar Utah and not spell it in Cyrillic? I can't wait to hear the rest of the story and see all of the other pictures when you get back.
