Back in Sunbeams after 57 years.

Today Jan and I started teaching the three year olds, the Sunbeams! I am convinced we learn great lessons from the mouths of babes as the scriptures say. They are eight of my graduating nursery students - I got promoted with them this year! I have been with them for about six months so I thought it would be a bit easier than it was. First, they were excited to be in their own room with Brother Stubbs and Sister Mister Stubbs as they called Jan, but then they found out there were no treats and all their faces fell at once. I reluctantly put a cough drop in my mouth so I could teach without coughing, and when I explained it wasn't candy but a cough drop they all started coughing immediately. Very contagious cough!

Our lesson included talking about them and how Heavenly Father knows each of them individually and how they are each a child of God. I had each one of them say the name of each other, and to my surprise, even though they had been together for a long time, only one or two knew the name of one other Sunbeam. As sweet as they are, they are so focused on themselves, they haven't yet learned each other's names. It strikes me that I am still like them. I rub shoulders every day with others and do really know them as a child of God? Do I really know what they need? Do I know how they feel? I may try to do what I are tasked to do, but do I look at those I contact every day and treat them as a special child of God?

Its a good thing I get to start over again in the Sunbeam Class.

It's amazing what kids can teach you.

That's great! We can learn so much from kids, it is true.

In Spain, cough drops ARE candy.

Maybe I should go back to Sunbeams. :) I love the contagious cough. You're going to have to stay on your toes!

I love that you are humble enough to be learning from your 3 year olds! I got to teach Sunbeams a few years back and I was blown away by what a sweet experience it was! Sister Mister Stubbs...heh, heh. I'm going to start calling her that.

Changed my ways
