Bees! Bees! and More Bees!

Okay I don't mean to bump my own post of Rich's graduation so be sure you read the blog post right after this.  But my bees arrived. My brave friend who I take art classes with and who was at Berkley the same time as Chip and Marie-Laure (she knows them) went with me to pick them up at the post office and documented the whole process for me.  I had all the bee clothes on, she only smoked herself and me and bravely took pictures.  IS that friendship or what?  So I will let the pictures tell the story of unloading 5 pounds of bees and their queen!

I am working with the queen in her own box in the shot above here. Had to get her in first.

If you made it this far, I thank you for your interest.  What you can't tell in the photos is that I have swarm of bees flying all around me. The film doesn't pick them up because they are moving and tiny. I only got one bee sting by the way.  On the ankle.  The bee had crawled under by pant cuff and we didn't see her to get her off me.
Now be sure and read about Rich's graduation!

Not for a year. I have to keep them going for a year before I can raid their supply. Wish me luck

That is very exciting! I'm sure they'll produce lotsa honey for you to get next year.
But I have to admit I am now scared to go in your back yard.

I can't believe they ship them like that and that the post office is willing to do that! Amazing. I can't wait to meet your new pets--will you have them all named by the time I get home?
