Ready Set GO!

We spent time with Randy going over details for the basement, checked on a builder, gave him a call, he came right over and went over our plans with us. Came back the next day and gave us a bid.  We looked at the bid and called and accepted it on Friday last week.  He said he could probably start in about two weeks. ON Sunday he saw me and asked how soon I could empty my basement, gulp! He was held up on his other job and could start ours as soon as my basement was empty. (If you have seen my basement you understand what this meant.)  So Monday morning we emptied the basement into the garage. Rich and Janae came as soon as he was off work and helped with the last really heavy stuff. They then swept and vacuumed everywhere. Dad and I were spent with the effort because we were also fasting in a ward fast for a ward member who was under going surgery. But Dad headed off to work and I called the builder and left a message that my basement was now empty.  He came an hour later, and snapped out the lines.  Tuesday I helped unload wood through the basement window and he was off and running.  His wife at the chop saw cutting(she is our former RS president! I didn't know she could do this!) and him nailing fast and furious. By Tuesday night he was mostly done and told me that he had to paint at his other job.  So I didn't expect to see him today but there he was (he comes and goes through my basement window so as not to disturb us or mess up the house) He pretty well finished framing except for a few odds and ends. So now I am frantically and happily making decisions about everything that goes in and trying to get my plans approved by the city (because well we are pretty much under way)
So here are some shots.
An empty basement.
The family room wall where the grandkids would play. Framing going up!
Dad's office with the built in twin bed area and closet
The future playroom under the stairs. See the door and the window?

This is as exciting as Christmas for me.  I walk around down there just for the sheer joy of it.
We should be done by end of November my builder says. I believe him. Now I got to go get cabinets, carpet, showers, lights and a bunch of other things picked out.  Fun Fun Fun
