Did you know that 1/4 of the veterans of the military live in California? True. And today there was a huge parade for them on Harbor Drive that ended just beyond the Midway. No we did not go. We went to a baptism instead. Then we shopped for some things that we could use at the mission home and came home and took a nap. Yup that is right. We rested.
After the mission tour finished on Wednesday when we dropped at the Seventy off at the airport, Dad went to an urgent care and took care of an ear infection that he has had for the past three weeks. It is getting better . I have had to walk on the right side of him to get him to hear me at all.
We had a great time with one of the Seventy here from Sunday to Wednesday. They are scheduled non stop and are really busy. We all spoke Sunday at El Cajon Stake Conference. That afternoon the Stake president brought him to the mission home and we fed him a light lunch. He settled in and for you who have been here he liked the fact that the hall has doors and he could shut them and have that half of the house to himself. That evening he met with an Arab member of the church here at the house and discussed with him and his wife ideas for the Church in teaching and approaching the muslim community. We have the largest middle eastern community in the United States just off Mt. Helix here. They brought Baclava for him. It was an interesting discussion. He did tell us our internet service here at the house is terrible and please get it fixed. We told him we are trying.
Monday and Tuesday her met with our zones. Monday night we had FHE at the Mormon Battalion and the senior couples got to hear from the Seventy. It was really nice. Tuesday evening we had dinner at a Mexican Restaurant with the area seventy and found out our visiting Seventy really doesn't like Mexican food. Oh well. Live and learn. We then toured the family history research library and then had a meeting with the stake presidents and ward temple and family research leaders to announce that the center will be remodeled into a Discovery Center and most family history will be done from home like it is anyway. What we didn't announce is that we hope to use part of that space for our Mission office and the Seventy is going to help us push that through. Wednesday we held Mission Leadership Council from 8am to 11. Then we took the Elder to the airport and we were finished. Mark had the Youth Church Services Missionaries join us for the two days. This includes missionaries who cannot do regular proselyting missions and those who have come home early from missions for health reasons. They were grateful to be included.
Here are a few pictures.

Thursday we drove up to Ramona area to Camp Wildwood which is the church owned girls camp. There was some difficulty to settle between senior couples working at the camp. Yes senior couples can make as much work as missionaries.
Friday we had interviews in Ramona and then to the office for some work and then home and crashed. We watched a movie on Amazon.
And there you have the week. Keeping busy as usual and loving San Diego. Miss you all. Hope all is well in your neck of the woods.
love

Good movie on Amazon? I need recommendations. We liked Pele about the soccer player-- really good movie. Not a documentary-- if you need an inspirational one. And we just watched Captain America, which my boys (including Rich) did not like at ALL because it totally warps WWII with all the high tech trains and planes. They liked Wonder Woman better! haha!
Dad looks like he is about to punch the 70 in that pic? ?
