New Blog Ideas.....

I don't want to keep putting up posts about my family. Someone have a stimulating topic? Mike? While I am posting, just let me say congrats to all the graduates in the family. Missy-- good job! Jared-- hooray! We are excited for you guys.

The girls were out wandering the neighborhood tonight in their swim goggles. They are getting anxious for summer. So, tell me your favorite summer memory from childhood. I really don't have a favorite in particular-- I just remember Jared and Mike fitting themselves inside of buckets and putting towles around the outside to make it look like they had shrunk into the ground. Also, I remember rescuing a bee from the swimming pool. I picked it up and held it, and then passed it to Jared. It promptly stung him on the tip of his finger.

My memories of summer as a kid are roller skating and I mean the old fashion kind of skates that were metal and clamped on your shoe and you had to carry a skate key around and constantly tighten them back on to your shoe especially if you are an uncoordinated 4 year old. Which brings back my next memory of summer...my scabby knees. Seems I always had scabs on my knees from falling down while roller skating. Which probably explains why I took long breaks from skating to run around on my stick horse. It was much safer. Of course there was the time I got mad at my stick horse for some reason or other and slit its throat and all the stuffing came out. I don't know why I did it and I haven't done anything remotely like it since. I think

hmmm, that sounds like Dad's story of slitting the throat of his rubber horse with a pair of scissors. Did you two meet at some sort of rehab center for toy horse killers?

I got my first real six-string
Bought it at the five-and-dime
Played 'til my fingers bled
It was summer of '69

Me and some guys from school
Had a Band and we tried real hard
Jimmy quit and Jody got married
I shoulda known we'd never get that far

Oh when I look back now
it seemed that it would last forever
And if I had the choice
Ya - I'd always wanna be there
Those were the best days of my life
