After we left the bookstore and to my sincere amazement, Mom said, "I really need something to do. I am so not productive." Well, I tripped on the mall carpet and just about fell. I wasn't quite sure what to say. I told her I would be happy to tell the stake president that his camp director didn't have enough to do these days.
I reminded her that she is stake camp director, teaches gospel doctrine and gospel essentials on Sundays, knits and sews blankets and hats for all her grand-nieces and nephews, in addition to sweaters, hats and blankets for our grand children. She keeps my books for my PC; she just completed my CLE applications for Utah and Idaho. Just today she asked me to be sure I got all the tax documents from work we need for this year's taxes to get to Terry Dodds, because she handles all the taxes and keeps all the books; she pays all the bills. She never sits idle but is knitting or sewing all the time. Just for kicks she knit herself a full sweater a couple of weeks ago. She keeps up her daily scripture reading, besides lesson preparation, (I always count lesson prep as scripture reading, myself.) She is completing watching the video series produced by Truman Madsen on the prophet, about 8 dvd's. She reads other books regularly, just for entertainment. She is on the hunt for a house and keeps accurate records of all the ones we look at. Her name is always, always on the list I get from the stake on who does the temple assignments, she is the most consistent volunteer at the cannery from our ward . She can't pass up a sewing project for the humanitarian committee. (Wheeze! Pardon me while I take a deep breath!!) She scanned Grandma Stubbs' pictures from her genealogy book and is entering all the data for our family groups.
She shoveled the drive last week "for exercise", and probably because she didn't want to wait for the crew that does it for the condos. She takes yoga at the rec. center, and she visits the grandparents and goes with them to the temple in her spare time.
I am posting this now because I know she won't read if for a while, probably until she reads all of the family blogs, including all the nieces and nephews; I know she won't get to it right away, why? Because she is programing her new telephone, adding pictures, adding ring tones, and taking pictures.
Actually, now I am feel unproductive. Maybe I ought to get something else to do to stay busy.

Now I have no excuse for waiting until now to start writing my talk on priorities.
Unproductive? I´m still trying to caught my breath after this marathon!! I guess I have to reconsider my priorities now...
:o)
She must be a Green...I havn't met one yet that can sit still for any length of time! But what a good example of choosing great things to do with the time given her. I know I LOVE the cute hat and baby gifts made with love from my aunt Jan!
What? No time for video games? That's a shame.
That is SO a Green girl...through and through. I haven't me a daughter of Jean Green that can sit still for 2 minutes at a time. Unproductive?? Not in my aunt's vocabulary. And I LOVE that my uncle and her husband is so aware and supportive of all that she does. Cheers to the greatest aunt and uncle in Orem!!!
Mike,
Thanks for reminding me. She plays mahjong every day on the computer.
uhhh...ok next time I will not say such things out loud. and thank you for all your support and understanding of my green genes.
Ah, Mom we love ya!
Mom, I used you as an example today in my talk in sacrament meeting. My topic was how are covenants guide our priorities. Thanks.
And I stink at Mohjong Titans.
I feel like such a slacker! My sister leaves me in the dust!
Go Mom!
Mike, In the category of video games, Mom is doing the Rosetta Stone Spanish program. I come home and hear someone speaking spanish in the basement. She doesn't hear me come in so I can sneak up on her. She is getting quite good.
Oh my....add on that she has time to field phone calls from her daughter who keeps sending her more archeological stuff to read. Whew. hey Mom, if you get bored you can come up here and play!!
