I hate it when the kids leave

We had a fun last week mainly because Jared, Abby, Afton, Ben and Cade came our way.  They got here Wednesday night after our last zone conference of this round and so Mark actually had some time he could spent with us all. So here are the highlights of the past week
We finished up zone conferences on Monday and Wednesday.
This is Peñasquitos, Poway and San Diego North
This is San Diego, and Chula Vista English and Spanish so 4 zones total

Tuesday one of the districts asked if they could come cook carne asada at the Mission home. Dad agreed and I think it was a couple of missionaries he wants to keep an eye on anyway.  We also had three sisters staying with us because on Monday night they came home to an apartment overrun by ants and flying ants.  They stayed with us Monday and Tuesday nights till their landlord got the insect problem resolved.   I tried to get some shopping down and preparations made for visiting family and for Departure day activities on Friday.
The missionaries and sisters who spent their P day with us
Sister Osmun, Sawyer and Smith who were driven from their apartment by ants

Jared and Abby and the kids arrived Wednesday night and we so appreciated their coming. Thursday we headed for La Jolla Cove to see the seals and then La Jolla shores for the ocean. Mark was able to spend the whole day with us which was huge bonus.

Friday Jared and Abby took the kids to Legoland because we had departure day activities all day starting at the temple at 8am and ending with a testimony at the mission home.  After the temple we come to the mission home and Mark begins his exit interviews while I begin to feed them. We play games through the afternoon as they wait for their interview and we eat. At the end we have a testimony meeting with the missionaries and by then Jared and family were back and shared in part of it.  Including Abby playing the piano for us when we sang hymns. Nice to have talent  around.
On Saturday it was Zoo Day. And we had fun.  Cade fulfilled his dream of seeing a live Panda. And then there were lots of other animals to see.  It was a fun day and it is a huge zoo.

Saturday night Mark took Jared and Abby into El Cajon to get some sawarmas at our favorite Arabic market and to show Jared the Chapel he was blessed in when we lived here 40 years ago.
Reliving the place where Jared was blessed. He has grown a bit
Sunday we drove them to the Battalion which was closed! Go figure and out by the temple which was also locked up but we try. There is always next time.

We finished Sunday with a visit from Elder Conrad and his family. He departed the mission a month after we got here. They are from Payson and he had returned with his family to show them his mission and to finally get to touch the sand and ocean. They are a really nice family

And that is about it.  Jared, Abby and the kids left early this morning and the house seems very quite and empty. We love your visits.
love you all

Dang, I'm jealous. I want to hang out at the beach right now. The weather looks so great. How fun they were all able to come. The sister from San Diego that is in our ward is from Chula Vista. Looks like it was a great week!

One of my friends took her kids to San Diego a few weeks ago. She gave a talk in church and talked about the Mormon Battalion Visitors Center. She said that she knew her 4th great grandpa was in the Battalion, but she got a nice surprise when she saw that his rifle is on display! They were all so excited and she teared up when she saw it.

Ants! Ew. That's no fun.

I also love the baby blessing throwback. Very touching.
